Founder of Planting Pencils, Ishaan Patel, 13, and his mother Dr. Alpa Patel stopped by Good Morning CT to share what inspired them to start the non-profit organization in December.

They spoke about the discrepancy in resources schools suffer from nationally and internationally.

This is their mission statement on their website:

“The mission of Planting Pencils is to raise awareness that every child in the world has a right to basic, free, quality education and to give support to underfunded schools in low-income areas in the US and underdeveloped countries where many children have no access or limited access to basic education.”
