Bridgeport Police looking for shooting suspect

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — One person has been shot, and the suspect is on the loose after a Monday morning shooting in Bridgeport.

A Bridgeport Fire official tells News 8 that 7-8 shots were fired in the area of Columbia Street and Ridge Avenue near building 7 of the Marina Village housing project in Bridgeport. The victim, 20-year-old Juquaahn Matthews, was shot in the stomach and ankle. He was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital where he is in critical, but stable condition.

The shooting caused a lock-in for students at the Roosevelt School, the Bridgeport Military Academy, and the Charter Oak School.

Police are still looking for the suspect.
