Bronx woman arrested for identity theft in Southington

Southington, Conn. (WTNH)- A nineteen year old woman from the Bronx, New York is facing several charges, including identity theft after being arrested in Southington.

In addition to identity theft, police say Maribel Hidalgo also faces charges of credit card theft,  criminal impersonation, and criminal attempt to commit larceny.

Authorities say Hidalgo tried to buy two iPhones from the Simple Wireless store on Queen Street, using a fraudulent identification card, that had the name of an existing customer. A sharp eyed store worker became suspicious and then called the police. Authorities say those iphones had a value of about 18-hundred dollars. Hidalgo is being held on a 50 thousand bond.
