Hartford man arrested in September reckless driving incident

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — A September incident of alleged reckless driving landed a 21-year-old Hartford man in a courtroom.

South Windsor Police arrested Jeru Williams on January 8, following an incident where Williams allegedly failed to stop for an officer on Route 5. The car then accelerated to 90 miles per hour. The officer stopped his pursuit after verifying the registration plate on the car. Officers later confirmed that Williams was the operator and obtained an arrest warrant for him, which was served Friday.

Williams faces charges of Interfering with an Officer, Disobeying the Signal of an Officer, Reckless Driving, Operating Motor Vehicle Under Suspension, Failure to Have Headlamps, and an equipment violation related to a defective muffler.

Williams was held on a $10,000 surety bond and was later arraigned on Friday.
