NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)–Two masked men broke into an apartment on Weybosset Street in New Haven Thursday and demanded money and drugs, according to police.

Victims told police that two masked men had forced their way inside their apartment complex, one carrying a shotgun. One victim said the crooks demanded money and drugs. When the victim told them he didn’t have either, the intruders went into another apartment. Police said the masked men then rounded up all of the residents and made them stand in the living room.

The men reportedly threw one of them into the wall. He crashed through the sheet rock. The other victims were ushered into a bathroom. One of them jumped out the window and called police.

The men fled with $18 and a couple of cell phones. One of them dropped a lighter from his sweatshirt pocket, and it was retrieved by one of the victims, who labeled it and placed it in a bag before turning it over to officers as evidence.

None of the victims were injured in the incident, and the suspects remain at large.

The case remains under investigation.
