0111 Alberta Clipper to Cause Messy PM Commute

  • Sun to start the day today but it will quickly be covered by clouds
  • Temperatures will climb to the upper 30s this afternoon but quickly take a dive after sunset
  • An Alberta Clipper will move towards Connecticut today.  Timing looks to be mid to late afternoon
  • Although we are not looking at major accumulation, the timing is pretty lousy
  • Likely to start as a mix along the shoreline, snow inland
  • With temperatures in the upper 30s around 2-4 PM, it will be tough for the snow to accumulate on the pavement
  • Temps will quickly fall after sunset, this will be your best chance for any accumulation
  • The wind will also pick up during the day today
  • The PM commute will sure be slick, give yourself a few extra minutes. Please DRIVE SAFE
  • Most of the state sees a coating to an inch, if you live in higher elevation towns, expect 1-2 inches
  • The bigger story is the arctic cold that follows the Clipper
  • Lows overnight Tuesday will be in the teens and low 20s
  • Anything that fell from the sky during the day/evening on Tuesday will freeze Tuesday night
  • Highs on Wednesday will only be in the 20s, feeling like the single digits and teens at times with a gusty wind out of the WNW
  • Thursday will be cold too with highs in the low 30s
