New Haven woman attempts to steal $700 in Target merchandise

ORANGE, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Haven woman was charged with larceny after attempting to shoplift over $700 worth of merchandise from Target.

On Monday, January 4, 2016 at approximately 2:29 p.m., Orange officers were dispatched to Target at 25 Boston Post Road for a report of shoplifting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that Latanya Sledge, 36, of 20 Howard Avenue in New Haven, had taken $730.68 worth of merchandise from the store without paying. She had been stopped just after exiting the store by Target’s security officers, and was held there for Orange Police.

Sledge was subsequently taken into custody and charged with larceny. She is due to appear in court January 19, 2016.
