Hartford police arrest 16 in street-level narcotics sweep

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Sixteen people have been arrested after Hartford police conducted a street-level narcotics operation.

Police say an operation was initiated after receiving ongoing complaints of street-level narcotic use and sale. On Thursday, officers and detectives conducted the sweep along the lower Park Street corridor, from South Green west to Frog Hollow.

Hartford Deputy Chief Brian J. Foley says officers were successfully able to arrest drug dealers and drug users from in and around the Hartford area. A total of sixteen people have been arrested and are facing charges. Police seized 53 bags of heroin, 20 grams of crack cocaine, 17 bags of marijuana, various prescription pills, and $470.
