New Haven police arrest man on weapons charges

New Haven, Conn (WTNH) -A traffic stop in New Haven ends with a man under arrest on several motor vehicle and weapons charges. Police pulled over the car on Bassett Street and when officers asked the driver for his paperwork, they detected a scent of what they believed was marijuana coming from the vehicle.

When the driver, 26 year old Terrence Todd stepped out of the car police say he waited for a second and then made a run for it down Lillac Street. With the help of the canine unit, Todd was caught in the backyard of a house on Ivy Street.

He is now facing charges of criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit and interfering with police.
