WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Waterbury police responded to an accident after a 12-year-old crashed a stolen car on Friday night.
Waterbury police say they were called to an accident at 170 Hillside Avenue. When they arrived, they learned a 12-year-old boy was driving a stolen 1999 Buick Century when he swerved between two parked cars, drove through an eight-foot high fence, and down an embankment. Police say the boy then got out of the car and walked away.
While police were doing the report, they say the boy walked up to the scene and began looking around. Witnesses positively identified him as the driver and police detained him.
The boy is charged with third-degree larceny, second-degree criminal mischief, operating without a license, and evading.
