From Torture Diets to Inspirational Weightloss: BORN FAT – The Life, Fat & Weight Loss of Elizabeth Petruccione

(WTNH) — After a dramatic 93-pound weight loss, Waterbury resident Elizabeth Petruccione  is now sharing her uplifting story “BORN FAT – The Life, Fat & Weight Loss of Elizabeth Petruccione,” first as a book, and recently as a play at the Seven Angels Theatre.

Petruccione was told by her mother “You were born fat!”  From a young age, she was put on diets and put down emotionally. Her weight fluctuated from 250 pounds to her current weight of 157 pounds.  It yo-yoed for years. After confronting her personal issues, she lost 93 pounds and kept if off. “I just cut out about 1,800 calories a week, so it was 0.6 lbs weight loss per week… when you lose weight that slowly you can maintain it,” said Petruccione.

Now she runs her own weight loss business, wrote 2 books, has a TV show, and inspires hundreds to become healthy. Playwright Jacques Lamarre wrote a play about this Waterbury-native that is now making its premiere in Waterbury at 7 Angels Theatre.  The show runs the next two weekends through January 31st.
