BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are looking for a suspect after a 17-year-old was shot in the leg in Bridgeport Tuesday night.

At about 9:45 p.m., officers found a teenager with a gunshot wound to the shin in the area of 1326 Stratford Avenue. He was transported to Bridgeport Hospital by a private vehicle and was treated for a non life-threatening wound, according to police.

The victim told police he was by himself walking on the sidewalk when he was shot and that the shots may have come from a passing vehicle.

Police say they interviewed 18-year-old Raciwean Belle at the hospital. Belle was reportedly with the victim when he was shot, but claims he knows nothing and saw nothing.

Officers recovered two spent shell casings at the scene along with one bullet from a parked vehicle nearby.

The shooting is still under investigation.
