HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 50-year-old New Haven man was arrested Thursday for threatening to shoot his niece with a gun.

Julius Garner was taken into custody by Hamden police Thursday after officers received a report that a teenage girl was being threatened by her uncle with a gun.

Police responded to Blacy Street around 7 p.m. where they saw Garner flee the area in a motor vehicle. Officers arrested Garner at a motor vehicle stop shortly after.

Investigators say Garner attempted to grab his teenage niece, but she was able to exit the house. Garner chased the victim and threw rocks before threatening her with a pistol, according to police.

Garner is charged with second-degree threatening and breach of peace. He was held on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court Friday.
