Man falls through ice

BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – A man has fallen through an ice covered pond this afternoon.

An unidentified Branford man was trying to walk on the ice covering Supply Pond Park shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, when he fell through the ice. There were two bystanders at the time of the incident, including an off duty state trooper, who helped pull the man get out of the water.

The man was checked out at the park by the Branford Fire Department and he decided that he did not need or want to go to the hospital and went home. The incident was cleared up within half an hour.

The fire department warns that it has not been cold enough for ice to be solid enough to walk over.
