Despite melting, roads remain icy in some areas

(WTNH)– We’ve got your back before you leave the house for work on the road conditions. While we had some melting Sunday, once that temperature dips, that can cause some slick roads.

Connecticut got more than foot in some places and while the roads have improved, there are three things you need to be aware of before you get behind the wheel.

The highways are looking good right now, but it’s those secondary roads that can still be slippery. The melting helped Sunday but that can often lead to refreezing.

And keep in mind roads are going to feel smaller, as those snow banks are building on the sides.

Also, clean off those cars. That can lead to a fine.

News 8’s Stephanie Simoni was out in the Mobile Weather Lab to show you what those roads are looking like in the video above.
