Police: Danbury house cleaner stole $10,000 in jewelry

GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) — Police say a Danbury house cleaner has been arrested for stealing more than $10,000 worth of jewelry from a client.

Grace Guzman is charged with first-degree larceny and making a false statement.

She was arrested Thursday on a warrant.

The Hartford Courant reports that Guzman was employed as a house cleaner for a family on Valley Road and was given full access to the home.

Police allege Guzman stole dozens of pieces of jewelry between October 2014 and October 2015 and then pawned the items in Danbury. The stolen jewelry is valued at more than $10,000.

She’s scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Superior Court in Stamford.

It’s unclear whether she’s being represented by an attorney.

A message left at a phone number listed for Guzman wasn’t immediately returned.
