HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – A Hartford man is facing gun charges after police say he accidentally shot himself in the hand while he was drunk, trying to buy a gun. On New Year’s Day, Martin Maldonado showed up at Hartford Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left hand. Maldonado admitted shooting himself while he was trying to buy a gun on Park Street earlier that morning. This week a judge granted a warrant in the case and Maldonado was charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. The judge set a $50,000 bond.
