Man dies in New Haven crash

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven Police say a man is dead after a serious crash that took place at the intersection at Townsend and Forbes Avenues Thursday morning.

Police said the fatal crash a little after 10:30 a.m. and involved two vehicles.

According to police spokesman David Hartman, initial reports suggest one of the vehicles ran a red light and struck the other, but it has not been confirmed.

The victim, who has not yet been identified by police, was transported to an area hospital where he later died, after suffering cardiac arrest, police said.

According to officers, illegal drugs were also found inside the car.

No one else involved in the crash has been identified or reported to have suffered serious injuries.

An investigation is currently underway.
