SHELTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Two people are facing charges after undercover police officers say they were making a drug transaction. Police were conducting surveillance in a commuter parking lot at Canal and Cornell Street Wednesday afternoon, when they say they saw the two make a hand to hand drug transaction. Officers found several individually wrapped bags of marijuana, several loose pills and a semi-automatic handgun.
Police arrested 21-year-old Ricardo Llera and 19-year-old Erminia Leite both of Shelton. Llera is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol w/o a Permit, Sale of a Controlled Substance, Illegal Possession and Failure to Keep Drug in Original Container.
Leite who was the driver of the vehicle that Llera was in, was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Sale of a Controlled Substance. Leite was released on a Promise to Appear and given a court date of 2-10-16 at Derby Court.
21 year old Sean Kellet of Shelton was issued an infraction ticket for Possession of less than 4 oz of Marijuana and released at the scene.
Shelton Police are continuing to be proactive in investigating drug dealing and are asking anyone with any information to contact the department. Calls may be confidential.
