Manchester man killed in Friday night crash

MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — Manchester police are investigating a deadly car accident that happened Friday night.

Police said they responded to the area of 550 Lydall Street around 9 p.m. after receiving reports that a car crashed into a building.

According to officers, when they arrived on scene, they found a pickup truck on its side against the Water Department building with the driver still inside.

Police said emergency crews worked to rescue the driver, who has been identified as 48-year-old John McHugh of Manchester, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation shows McHugh was headed west on Lydell Street when he veered off the roadway, struck a tree and then rolled over colliding with the building, police said.

Police are asking anyone with any information on the crash to contact them at 86-645-5560.
