MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Members of the Milford Fire Department battled a blaze on Fourth Avenue overnight.

At 11:47 p.m. on Sunday, Milford’s dispatch center received a 911 call reporting a structure fire inside a single family home at 162 Fourth Avenue in Milford. Two occupants were reported to have been home when the fire broke out, and had safely evacuated upon discovering the fire.

Multiple engines responded to the scene, and worked to extinguish the flames. Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi says, “Fire crews made an aggressive interior attach which resulted in a quick knockdown.” Chief Fabrizi notes that extensive fire, smoke, and water damage has left the home untenable.

Crews cleared during the hour of 1 a.m., as officials worked to determine a cause.

Milford’s Fire Marshal division is continuing an investigation into the cause of the fire.
