Tax scam threatens to arrest you

VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — The Vernon Tax Collector’s Office wants to warn about a phone scam where the person on the line threatens to get you arrested.

This will happen if you do not pay your taxes immediately. The caller also threatens to revoke your license, but none of that is true.

If you get one of these calls, you should call the Vernon Police Department at (860) 872-9126.

If you think you owe taxes, call the Collector of Revenue to set up a payment plan. The town will never ask for payment over the phone.
