Willington, Conn. (WTNH) – After a several month-long narcotics investigation, State Troopers have made an arrest for the distribution of Marijuana and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) concentrate, also known as Marijuana Wax or Honey Oil.
State Troopers with Troop C’s Narcotics Enforcement Team joined forces with the Statewide narcotics Task Force, the DEA and the United States Postal Inspection Service for a lengthy investigation into how marijuana was being shipped through the US Mail.
State Troopers say they received information that Matthew Spinella was shipping the drugs from Oregon to Connecticut. US Postal Inspectors intercepted several recent packages sent from Spinella, and found that they contained approximately 13 ounces of THC Concentrate, approximate street value of $25,000.
Troopers applied for, and were granted, a Search and Seizure Warrant by the superior court. The warrant was executed when Spinella accepted the package at his residence. Troopers seized a total of 548 grams of marijuana, approximate street value of $8,000.00, two tabs of LSD, a small amount of cocaine, four amphetamine pills, $1280.00 in cash, scales and drug packaging.
Matthew Spinella was taken into custody and transported to Troop C where he was processed and held on bond pending his court date. The seized items were also transported to Troop C where they were held as evidence.
Spinella of Willington is now facing charges of possession of controlled substance narcotics and hallucinogenic as well as operating a drug factory.
