Navy attack sub returning to homeport in Groton

GROTON, Conn. (AP) — A U.S. Navy attack submarine is returning to its homeport in Groton after a deployment to the waters around Europe.

USS Missouri is expected back at the Naval Submarine Base on Friday afternoon.

The nuclear-powered submarine traveled roughly 37,000 miles during a deployment that included port visits in Scotland, Spain and France.

The Missouri was commissioned in 2010 as the seventh in the Virginia class of attack submarines.
