MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) — A former Bloomfield middle school teacher who was convicted last year of choking and sexually assaulting a woman in 2013 has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Dale Kukucka was found guilty in December of first-degree strangulation, third-degree sexual assault and a misdemeanor charge of third-degree assault. He was sentenced on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old Andover man must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Prosecutors say Kukucka, a former teacher at Carmen Arace Intermediate School, attacked a 23-year-old woman inside a woman’s restroom on Oct. 19, 2013 during a parade in East Haddam.
Kukucka maintained his innocence during the sentencing. His lawyer argued that Kukucka’s crimes followed a night of drinking.
He has another sexual assault case pending against him.
