New Britain to upgrade traffic signals

New Britain, Conn. (WTNH)- New traffic signals are on the way for the city of New Britain, thanks to three million dollars in funding from the state Department of Transportation.

The money will be used to both upgrade and modernize the system in the downtown area and allow traffic signals to communicate with each other. The upgrades will be beneficial for drivers and the community as a whole.

Drivers can look forward to more efficient traffic flow and the changes should lead to a reduction in carbon emissions.  New Britain is one of just thirteen communities or transit systems in the state to receive that D-O-T funding. The work is slated to begin in the spring of 2017.
