New London police investigating Broad Street shooting

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — A man is in critical condition after a shooting on Broad Street early Friday morning.

Just after 1:00 a.m., New London officers responded to the area near Ravi Store, located at 283 Broad Street, on a report of shots fired with possible victims.

While police were responding, a victim, 26-year-old Kevin McKinnon Jr. of New London, was located in his vehicle several blocks away. Officers found the victim bleeding from several gunshot-like wounds.

McKinnon was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, and later transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment. Officials at Lawrence and Memorial described the victim’s injuries as critical. McKinnon underwent emergency surgery at Yale and he is currently listed in critiacl condition.
