Waterbury man arrested on larceny and fraud charges

Waterbury, Conn. (WTNH)- A Waterbury man is under arrest, accused of illegally collecting more then seven thousand dollars in unemployment compensation benefits.

Prosecutors say 32 year old Mario Clay collected more than seventy three hundred dollars in unemployment benefits illegally between June and October of 2013 when he worked at Waterbury Hospital. Clay faces charges of first degree Defrauding a Public Community and one count each of both Larceny in the first degree and Defrauding a Public Community and Unemployment Compensation Fraud.

Following his arraignment in New Britain Superior Court Clay was released on a written promise to appear.

His next court appearance is set for April 28th.
