NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Police in New Haven were called to a home on Exchange Street regarding a medical call that turned out to be a robbery.

Nineteen-year-old Skyler Sheppard was being treated after being sprayed with a chemical agent. Sheppard told police two people robbed him of $700 and took off.

Police did a quick check on Facebook which revealed the possible identities of the suspects. They first found 18-year-old Michael Hunter. Police found Hunter hiding in his bedroom closet. He was arrested after the victim identified him as one of the robbers.

Police also recovered a blue “Mace” gun, five bags of marijuana and two firearms at Hunter’s home.

Hunter told detectives he went with his friend to set up a marijuana deal with Sheppard and that’s how they ended up at his home. Sheppard admitted there was an arrangement but that he didn’t invite the men inside.

Hunter and Leon were charged with home invasion, robbery, larceny, assault, conspiracy to commit home invasion, conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit larceny, and conspiracy to commit assault.
