Woman arrested for unemployment fraud

(WTNH) – An Oxford woman has been arrested and charged with illegally collecting thousands of dollars in unemployment compensation benefits while working as a college professor.

Angela Skyers, 48, of Oxford was charged with larceny by defrauding a public community and unemployment compensation fraud.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Skyers fraudulently collected more than $8,000 in unemployment benefits between August and October 2012 while employed as a college professor.

Skyers is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on March 10.
