Malloy releases extensive list of new state budget cuts

- FILE - Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy delivers his State of the State address, February 3, 2016 (WTNH)

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy released details late Wednesday afternoon outlining another round of state budget cuts that will affect more than 40 state agencies.

In all, the Governor is cutting more than 78 million dollars from the bottom line. That includes almost 17.2 million from the Department of Developmental Services, almost 7.2 million from the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and more than 6.5 million from the Department of Children and Families.

This is only a small portion of the cuts that will likely be needed, as the Governor’s authority to make cuts is limited. The legislature must approve any deeper spending cuts.
