Driver injured in Hamden school bus crash

HAMDEN,Conn. (WTNH)– Police are investigating after a school bus hit a tree in Hamden Wednesday morning.

Police say just after 8 a.m., a school bus crashed into a tree on Brook Street.  There were no children on board the bus at the time of the accident, but the bus driver was entrapped from the impact. Emergency officials responded to the scene to extricate the victim before she was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with serious injuries. The driver has been identified as 66-year-old Maggie Brunson.

Brook Street was closed between Wintergreen Avenue and West Side Drive but has since been reopened.

The accident remains under investigation by the Hamden Police.
