Fairfield house fire leaves one hurt

Fairfield, Conn. (WTNH)- The quick actions by a neighbor and firefighters might have saved a life in Fairfield yesterday afternoon. the incident happened at a home on Jennings Road. The neighbor smelled heard the sound of a smoke detector coming from a second floor window.

When firefighters got to the scene minutes later heavy smoke was already coming from the building. During a search of the building firefighters discovered a person unconscious in a smoke filled building.

The person was confused and unaware of what was going on. The victim, a male from Bridgeport whose believed to be in his 30’s, was taken to the hospital suffering from smoke exposure.  The assistant fire chief credits the sharp eared neighbor and that working smoke detector for saving a life. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
