ORANGE, Conn. (WTNH) — If you are thinking about selling your home experts say now is the time to put it on the market.
“The young buyers are buying. The houses are relatively well-priced as long as you price your house right,” Realtor with Coldwell Banker, Barbara Lehrer said.
Lehrer added the first impression starts online so professional pictures help, “Your first showing is the internet. Then a drive-by. Third showing is getting in the house. The fourth showing is coming back.”
Linda Jainer put her house on the market and it sold within three days. “We were shocked,” said Jainer, “We said we better find us a house quick.” Jainer did some key things to get the house to sell. “We ‘de-cluttered’. That’s a big thing. Cleaning out the kitchen cabinets. Clearing out the cupboards. cleaning out the closets,” said Jainer.
Planning on a move? There are 8 things you need to do before you list your home.
First, light up your house. Experts say maximize the light in your home and make the rooms bright. Next, clean up your basement and repaint dark walls with a neutral color. Repair leaky faucets and fix all broken appliances. Make sure your tile sparkles and replace carpeting. You can also make a good impression on the outside by landscaping and cleaning up leaves. Remember don’t spend a lot of money fixing up your house Mammoth makeovers don’t always pay off.
“If your home is neat and clean and not cluttered and doesn’t need a lot of work. the buyers don’t want a lot of work,” adds Lehrer. Experts say if your house doesn’t sell in two weeks then you need to change your game plan.
