Police: Man hit, killed by car while directing traffic

SOMERS, Conn. (AP) — Police say a 52-year-old Waterbury man is dead after he was hit by a car while directing traffic in Somers.

It happened around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Route 190 and Sokol Road.

Police say Bret Colucci was directing westbound traffic into the eastbound lane when he was hit by a 93-year-old Enfield man.

Colucci was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital and then transported to Hartford Hospital where he died of his injuries. The driver wasn’t injured.

State police are investigating.
