Driver critical following crash with police cruiser

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)  –  A police cruiser responding to a call with lights and sirens going and another vehicle were involved in a collision resulting in the other driver being critically injured.

Bloomfield Police say the officer was responding to the report of a pedestrian hit at 8:30 p.m. when the cruiser traveling East on Park Avenue and a Lexus traveling south on School Street collided at the intersection of Park Avenue and School Street.

State Police identify the driver of the police cruiser as 24 year old Alecia Aldrich and the driver of Lexus as 24 year old Dwayne Mclish of Bloomfield.   According to Bloomfield Police Aldrich was treated at St. Francis Hospital and released and Mclish is in critical condition at St. Francis Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
