MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) — Police are searching for a driver who they say hit and killed a 61-year-old woman while she was putting a letter in her mailbox in Middletown.
Police say Barbara Eddinger was struck by a dark blue sport utility vehicle around 2:15 p.m. Thursday. The driver fled the scene.
Police say the car had been heading eastbound on Chamberlain Road when it crossed over to the other side of the street and hit Eddinger.
She was airlifted to Middlesex Hospital where she later died.
Police say they’re looking for the SUV, which should have damage to the front left side.
