ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) — A West Haven man is charged with robbing an Ansonia gas station at gunpoint.

Everald Davis, 29, turned himself in to Ansonia police on Thursday. Police say he went to the counter of the Xpress Mart at 180 Wakelee Avenue on March 24, pointed a gun at the clerk, and demanded all the money or else he would shoot the clerk. The clerk gave him the cash and cigarettes he demanded, according to authorities.

When Davis turned himself in, police say he told a dispatcher at the police station that he was there because his friends told him they saw his picture online regarding a robbery. They say when the dispatcher asked Davis if he committed the robbery, he said yes and that’s why he was at the station.

The Noble Street man is charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, and first-degree threatening. He was held on $100,000 bond.

Police say Davis is also a suspect in a robbery at Smith’s Shell Gas Station on Great Hill Road in Ansonia.
