Women working in the fields of STEM

WEST HAVEN, Conn. — The University of New Haven is hosting a daylong conference that encourages women to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

While 7.6 million people in the United States work in the STEM fields, only 24 percent which are women, according to the Women’s Leadership Conference.

At the event, held Friday April, 1, there were several speakers from STEM fields.

The keynote speaker was Jennifer Lawton, chief strategy officer at littleBits.

The conference also featured a panel on “Investing in Women,” which had Nora Poggi speaking.

She’s a French journalist who directed and produced the film “She Started It” about women leaders in STEM.
