Survey ranks best Connecticut high school cafeteria food

DURHAM, Conn. (WTNH)– Rankings are out for the best high school cafeteria food. Niche.com surveyed and ranked the top 100 schools in the state.

Here’s the top 10
1. New Canaan High School

2. Weston High School

3. Coginchaug Regional High School
Durham, CT

4 Staples High School
Westport, CT

5. Wilton High School

6. Killingly High School

7. Valley Regional High School
Deep River Town, CT

8. Simsbury High School

9.Waterford High School

10. Connecticut River Academy
East Hartford, CT

Here’s how this survey worked. Niche.com relied on students and parents to take a survey. Then, it also factored in the amount of money each district divides out per student. It completely relied on opinions and folks to participate.

For instance, the top three schools had about 100 people take the surveys. Where as other schools did not have such high participation.

News 8 spoke with a nutritionist who says to really find out the best quality lunches you’d have to look a specific factors.

“That it is fresh. That it is handled properly before it is even cooked. That it is cooked to the proper temperature or held at the refrigeration. That has to do with food quality,” said Maryann Meade, nutritionist.
