Chelsea Clinton to campaign for mother in Hartford

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Many of the candidates are now focusing their attention on Connecticut, since the primary election is next week.

Chelsea Clinton will be campaigning for her mother, Hillary Clinton in Hartford on Wednesday. Chelsea Clinton will be holding an organizing event at Dunn’s River Jamaican restaurant in Hartford. She’s expected to talk about how she believes her mother to be the best candidate to tackle the problem of gun violence in communities across the country.

Local leaders will be joining Chelsea Clinton at the restaurant Wednesday afternoon. Doors open at 1 p.m. and they’ll be urging everyone to get out and vote. Every delegate counts and candidates are now looking to gain as much support as they can.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton will be holding a discussion on gun violence in Hartford on Thursday morning. She’ll meeting with families of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting as well as families who have been affected by gun violence in Connecticut cities. She’s expected in Stamford on Sunday.

Her husband, former president Bill Clinton, is scheduled to be at a reception in Westport Thursday. There’s talk that Hillary Clinton’s opponent, Bernie Sanders, will be visiting Connecticut over the weekend, though nothing is confirmed yet.

On the republican side, Donald Trump was in Connecticut last week for a rally. John Kasich is expected at the Glastonbury Town Hall on Friday evening. Ted Cruz is not scheduled to be in Connecticut at this point.

The Connecticut primary election is next Tuesday, April 26.
