STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Stratford woman has been charged with larceny and unemployment compensation fraud.

Denise Lennon-Smith, of Stratford, was arrested by inspectors in the office of the chief state’s attorney on Tuesday.

The arrest was a result of an investigation following a complaint by the Connecticut Department of Labor.

She’s facing charges for fraudulently collecting nearly $9,000 in unemployment compensation benefits.

According to the warrant for her arrest, Lennon-Smith under-reported wages received for working for two businesses from October of 2011 through January, 2013.

She’s since been released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in a New Britain court in May.
