Second Zika-positive patient confirmed in Connecticut

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) has announced that a second patient has tested positive for Zika virus.

On Friday, the DPH said that officials were informed by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene that a Connecticut man tested positive for Zika after returning from a Zika-affected area in the Caribbean. Officials say the patient developed a rash one day after he returned and no other symptoms were reported.

Last month, DPH informed News 8 of the first confirmed case of Zika in the state.

No additional information on the patient was available.
