Three arrested after Hamden bank robbery

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Three people are in police custody after a bank robbery on Thursday afternoon. It happened at the Wells Fargo Bank on Whitney Avenue around 2:45 p.m.

According to police, three males went into the bank with guns while wearing masks. They ordered one of the tellers to open the cash drawers. It’s unclear how much money they were able to get away with. Nobody in the bank was injured.

Police say the suspects then got away in a Mercedes Benz. Hamden police went after them, but lost the suspects’ vehicle a short time later. New Haven police then spotted the car. The car crashed into a tree in the area of North Frontage Road and Ella Grasso Boulevard. New Haven police quickly took the three suspects into custody.

Hamden police arrested:

  • Derrick White, 51
  • Howard Bookert, 18
  • A 17 year old whose name is not being released because of his age.

All the suspects are now facing numerous charges in connection to the bank robbery.
