Lockdown lifted at Thalberg Elementary School in Southington

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A lockdown has been lifted at Thalberg Elementary School in Southington after an unauthorized person was found on school grounds.

Superintendent of Schools Tim Connellan sent a letter home to parents at about 11 a.m. that the school was placed in lockdown as a precaution.

According to Connellan, the individual found on school grounds did not present a danger to students but Southington police responded to investigate.

Police say the unauthorized person was determined to be a special needs individual who lives in the neighborhood. Officers were able to escort the person home.

Connellan says that the lockdown was lifted in about 10 to 15 minutes.
