New Haven man injured in shooting

,   New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) New Haven police are investigating a shooting that has left a twenty year old man in the hospital with a wound to his leg.

Police say Shyquan Bellamy injury is not life threatening. There are differing accounts as to how Bellamy ended up being shot.

He tells police that someone in a brown SUV traveling down Valley Street last night at around 11 o’clock fired a shot at him.

But, a witness tells police a different story, suggesting that a dispute of some nature provoked the gunfire. Adding to the mystery, police found a bag of narcotics packaged for sale at the scene and no ballistic evidence. The case remains under investigation.
