Two Connecticut Army National Guard Units return home

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Wednesday saw a nice welcome back home for two units of Connecticut Army National Guard.

35 soldiers from the 143rd Regional Support Group, based in Middletown, were deployed to Afghanistan. The 192nd Military Police Battalion, based in Niantic, deployed 55 soldiers to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to help support in detainee operations.

The units just recently returned home to Connecticut and received a welcome home ceremony in Hartford.

A National Guard unit has 18 to 24 months to prepare for a mission.
