Hollywood Minute: The Band Perry Has Olympic Spirit

NEW HAVEN (Conn.) — “Captain America: Civil War” is off to a smashing start. The latest Marvel superhero flick made nearly $15 million on its first day in 15 international markets, including South Korea, the Philippines, Hong Kong and France. Analysts say it could gross $200 million or more this weekend, nearly a week before it opens in North America.

“The Voice” is getting an official documentary. Whitney Houston’s estate has signed off on a film about the late great singer. Oscar-winning director Kevin MacDonald is set to helm the documentary, which is slated to include interviews with family, friends and collaborators, plus rare performances and never-before-seen footage from Houston’s archive.

The Band Perry has the Olympic spirit! The U.S. Olympic team has chosen the trio’s “Live Forever” as its official song for the summer games in Brazil. The athletes may get to hear it live: The band members say they’re going to Rio, to see their first Olympic games.
