Willimantic couple charged after child found wandering in street

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) – Two people have been arrested after a young old child was found wandering alone in Willimantic.

Police officers with the Willimantic Police Department arrested Lymarys Lopez, 20, and her boyfriend, William Gonzalez, 28, after a child, 2, had been seen walking along West Avenue on Sunday morning.

Officers concluded that the child had walked out of the unlocked apartment twice while the couple was sleeping.

Both Lopez and Gonzalez face charges of breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor.

The Department of Children and Families is investigating.
