Two Northern Fur Seal pups find forever home at Mystic Aquarium

MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH)– Two Northern Fur Seal pups get a forever home right here in Connecticut. The female seals are now nine months old but they were found back in November stranded off the coast of California.

During their rehabilitation out there they didn’t catch onto the process of being able to catch fish on their own so they were deemed unreleasable. Mystic Aquarium has now taken in the pups which are being kept in quarantine for the time being.

“We’re very excited. They’re adorable as you guys can see. We’re happy to have them. It’s a learning process for all of us trying to get them learning how to take whole fish from us,” said Heath Bruscato, Marine Mammal Trainer.

The two pups will be named in the coming days and will eventually join the aquarium’s other northern fur seals in their exhibit.
